The Best Registry Cleaner For Office 2010

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Office 2010 is a brand new software suite that Microsoft are launching this year, but in order to keep it running as smoothly as possible, you need to be able to keep its registry settings intact. To do this, you just need to use a registry cleaner, but having used many of these tools, we've found only one which is able to handle the new software that's coming out.

Registry cleaners are software tools that scan through the settings on your computer and fix any of the damaged / corrupt ones that are in there. The registry is a central directory which stores the settings for every program on your PC, and is how Windows is able to recall so many different settings for your PC. The only problem is that since the registry contains so many settings for all different software, it's constantly getting damaged and unreadable.

The issue that Office 2010 faces is that because it's so new, many of its settings will get damaged and corrupted quite easily. This will make the software unusable and will likely cause random errors and crashes. Registry cleaners should be able to fix this, but because the settings that Office 2010 will have are so new, many of the older cleaners will not be able to recognize them, leading them to try and delete them.

This is a major problem which can make your computer unable to run at all and is why you need to get the best registry cleaner for Office 2010. We've been using these tools for a while and have found that the best ones for new software are the ones that are kept up-to-date and effective. This allows them to find the most recent issues and fix them all... allowing you to make your PC & software run a lot smoother. We've found that tool called "RegAce" works the best to make Office 2010 run smoothly. This is a popular registry tool that is kept updated every month. We used it and found it to be extremely effective to help our system run faster and more reliably.

Excel Histogram Charts - A How To Guide

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Excel is a powerful tool for the visual display of data. Leveraging graphs and tables is a useful way to gain a deeper understanding of your data than by just looking at a large data set in its raw form. It is also an effective way to communicate your data to others.

There are a variety of types of graphs (called Charts in Excel) that you can create in Microsoft Excel, including column (or vertical bar) graphs, line graphs, line and point graphs, area graphs, scatter plot graphs, pie graphs, and others.

One special type of graph that you can create in Excel is the histogram, or a vertical bar chart. The histogram is useful for showing count data (quantities of something) across multiple sub-divisions of a category. Displaying counts in a histogram is a form of frequency distribution.

Examples of when to use a histogram include:

a. How many pieces of Halloween candy did each kid in the class collect?

b. How many widgets did each salesperson sell in February?

c. How many days in the month of August did the temperature exceed 100 degrees?

To create Excel histogram charts, follow these steps:

1. Group the data within the category you want to display as a histogram into a table so that there is a unique (summed) quantity per sub-division (a sub-division could be: each kid in the class, each salesperson, each day of the month of August, etc.). For example, if you have a data table that shows that Bob sold 1 widget on February 3 and 2 widgets on February 16, you need to group all of Bob's sales for the month into one line that shows 3 widgets (no need to include the date of the sale, since this information is non-essential for this histogram). You can do this grouping through a combination of sorting and addition, or you can use PivotTables.

2. Your data table should be arranged into two columns: the first column showing each sub-division (again: each kid in the class, each salesperson, etc.) and the other showing the quantity assigned to each sub-division. Make sure each column has a descriptive header in the first row. Note: do not add sub-totals or totals to your table.

3. Sort your table by either the sub-division name or quantity column - your choice.

4. Next, highlight the two columns of data, including the column headers.

5. Click on the Insert tab at the top of your worksheet, then click on the little black down arrow underneath the Column icon in the Charts section.

6. Select the first chart you see, at the top, left of the drop-down menu. Your histogram should then appear on your worksheet.

7. One last step: I suggest adding data labels to your graph to make it easier to read. To do this, just select (click on) any one of the columns in the graph and right click, then select Add Data Labels from the menu.

Histograms are a useful tool for communicating information visually, and with a little practice they are easy to make in Excel.

Best Stock Investment Strategy For 2010 & Beyond

The best stock investment strategy for 2010 and beyond will focus on a stock investment that is actually an investment fund. This investment strategy is easy to put into action and is the best way to simplify things for the average stock investor. You can do it the hard way in 2010 and beyond, or you can learn about stock investment funds and do it the easy way.

Many people try to pick the best stock investment by pouring over the list of equities (stocks) traded on the major exchanges. That gives you about 5000 choices. Others try to pick the best investment fund from the equity category offered by a specific mutual fund family. This limits your choices, but also your opportunities; since few families offer a wide array of specialty or sector funds that specialize in a particular industry.

The best stock investment strategy for 2010 and going forward is to focus on industries and sectors that have been out of favor and will eventually be top performers when a real economic recovery takes hold. The economy is not out of the woods yet, as the jury is still out in regard to our financial system and the big banks that created the financial crisis. Unemployment is still at unacceptable levels and the real estate market is still in a funk. Where will the big profits be when the financial storm eventually passes?

You'll find your best stock opportunities in the sectors that were previously beat up severely. Now, let's talk investment strategy. You will want to have a primary equity holding in the form of an equity investment fund that moves with the market. That's a lot easier than picking individual issues and putting together your own portfolio. You can buy into the general market by simply buying shares in an ETF (exchange traded fund) that tracks a major market index like the S&P 500.

In one simple transaction you can buy shares in SPY which tracks the major market index that the professionals follow and use as a benchmark, the S&P 500 Index. If the market is up you make money... if stocks are down you lose like most everyone else. Then, you add investment funds (ETFs) to your portfolio that track industries or sectors that were beaten up the worst when stocks in general were falling. Avoid those that have already reached new highs.

For example, the gold sector was cold for years before it took off and gold prices hit all-time highs. It's too late to get rich here in 2010 and going forward for a few years. On the other hand, the real estate industry has been hammered in recent times. Stocks and funds that invest in that sector lost up to 90% when the financial crisis unfolded, and are still way under water. Your best stock investment in 2010 or in the years that follow could very well be an ETF that tracks the real estate sector. Symbol URE is one such fund, and gives investor 2 to 1 leverage in the process.

If you are new to the world of investing, your best stock investment strategy is to focus on the investment funds (ETFs) that trade on exchanges and offer just about any category of investment conceivable. For example, how else could you invest in equities, bonds, commodities, or foreign securities without years and years of experience? Go to your broker's site or other financial site and get familiar with the various categories of ETFs that are available. Or search "ETF" on the internet.

I've been an active investor for 35 years. Today, 90% of my investing activity is in exchange traded funds. I like to be able to play gold, real estate, and other sectors the quick and easy way without the risk associated with the likes of commodities contracts and options contracts.

How to Help Your Child Excel at Sports

If you are the parent or guardian of a child who is athletic, you know it can be a challenge to help them excel. A few kids are naturally filled with athletic ability and they do not even need to practice to do well. Most though will need some coaching and a bit of time practicing to be comfortable and confident on the field or court. If your child is part of the majority who need to work harder to do well in sports, there are a number of ways you can help them excel. The first things kids have to realize is getting good at a sport require lots of practice. Many kids think showing up at practice with their team is enough to make them the star athlete, but in order to stand out from the rest, even the best athletes commit to hours of practice.

The trick for parents is to find ways to make practice fun and convenient for kids, while still balancing other responsibilities like schoolwork and household chores. A great way to do this is to make practice possible at home. Even without a practice buddy they should be able to take some time each day to practice their skills. A great way to do this is to have a baseball pitching machine on hand for kids who love this sport. Softball pitching machines work just as well, and even if a child is alone, they will be able to practice their hitting and fielding skills anytime they want at home. There are similar options for kids who enjoy playing football or tennis, and if your child is a fan of basketball, all it takes for at home practice is a net.

Those looking for more structured practice opportunities may consider enrolling their child in a class or camp. During the summer months when school is out, there are camps for just about every activity you can imagine. Some are focused on just one thing, like a sports or craft camp, and others are general camps that offer exposure to a few things throughout the weeks or months of enrollment. This is a great option if you want your child to practice their usual sports skills but also let them enjoy a few other things and meet kids with other interests. Camps are overnight or just during the day, and if finances are a concern, many of the camps offer scholarship programs that are both need and talent based. Speak with you child about their feelings on attending a camp that will put them with other children with similar talents and interests.

It may be intimidating at first to meet new people, especially if they have more natural talent than your child, but the competition may drive them to practice harder and excel. If your child chooses to enroll in a camp that offers sports instruction and other activities, be sure they continue to practice their sports skills at home while attending the camp. This way they get the benefit of participating in a variety of activities, but keep their skills sharp.

Rectifying "Unable to Load Workbook" Error in MS Excel

Microsoft Excel is a popular spreadsheet program, which is the part of MS Office Suite of Products. It stores data in the form of rows and columns for effective management and easy accessing. But in some situations, the Excel Workbook can not be opened and loaded into main memory. This problem could occur due to either corruption to Excel file or unsupported file format. In both these situations, the workbook become inaccessible and you come across serious data loss situations. In order to retrieve data in these cases, you need to carry out Excel Recovery using appropriate tools.

In a practical scenario, when you try to open an Excel Workbook, it might not open and you come across below given error message:

"Unable to Load Workbook The workbook that you selected cannot be opened. The workbook may be in an unsupported file format, or it may be corrupt.
Would you like to try and open this file in Excel?"

This behavior of Microsoft Excel renders the workbook inaccessible and thus result into data loss. At this point, you need to find out the cause of this issue and then go for appropriate Excel Repair solution to retrieve data.

Root of the issue

There are two possible causes of this problem:
The file was created in Microsoft Excel and then saved in MS Excel format that retains caret operator in few cells so as to denote the exponentiation and the space character was used in front of it. After that, when you try to publish file to Excel Services, it might refuse to open and give you above error message.

Other possible cause behind this problem could be corruption to the Excel workbook. Due to damage to the file, MS Excel can not recognize the file and access it. If you are using carat operation with space character, delete the space character and then attempt to load workbook. In case the problem is caused by Excel workbook corruption, you need to repair and restore it using excel repair tools.

These are powerful third party applications, which perform thorough scan of affected Excel file to extract all of the data from it. The excel file repair software are completely safe and easy to use.

Stellar Phoenix Excel Recovery is the most advanced and effective solution to retrieve all of the Excel file objects in original format. It supports recovery from Microsoft Excel 2007, 2003, 2002 (XP) and 2000. This software is compatible with Microsoft Windows Vista, 2003, XP, 2000 and NT.

Professor Teaches Office 2010 and Win 7 Review

In general this is a very effective method of learning Windows 7 and Office 2010 there are some things that could improve the usability though.
Pros:
A great price and I feel a good value
Assumes no knowledge and allows skipping so all the beginning stuff is covered well.
If you go through the tutorials you will learn things you never knew even if you have been using the programs for a while but you have to have a fairly good attention span. It is well worth your time.

Cons:
Each of the 17 sections will install on your hard drive and it took over 5 minutes and required sending personal information through their registration process. I have a very over powered machine with loads of memory so I'm not used to such extensive install times. I would prefer running directly from the DVD and just storing a small file that tracked what I've completed.
Even though this is a new product it needed file updates.
The installer got stuck on every section and I had to force a close through task manager
Seems copy a lot of stuff during install process for just a video education program
There is no full screen mode or it is not easy to find
You just can't listen you have to click next over and over just to continue the lessons shortly after starting I wished for an auto play mode with a pause. Some of it is interactive and I appreciate this but having to press next just to continue the audio was very annoying; sometimes it is for every sentence.
If you click on the wrong place you get a dialog which you have to manually close to move on. It should just close when you click on the correct item.
Product is a bit buggy got several pop up dialog boxes for example titled Train Engine with the following Text Problem: WaitFor gave Incorrect label-6rot On page 75Lesson1A Ignoring them and closing the dialog boxes the lesson continues.
Product Packaging is over done

Slow, Awkward, Old Fashioned - Conspicuous Consumer -
Twenty years ago I would have considered this a decent learning tool. But users have many far better options for learning Office 2010 than this product.

Office 2010 does require training. I used it for a month before I figured out where they moved some of the Excel print functions. I went through 8 hours of online training with Word before I switched to it and I have taught Office at a graduate level.

This software had problems from the start. Autostart failed, so I opened it manually. You have to install any application you want to your hard drive so I installed Word (333 MB after update). I skipped registration.

When I tried to run it (no desktop shortcut), the install disk ran furiously in player but the application failed to open. Rebooted, tried again, and was prompted to update.

I found the training to be slow, clunky, and not very useful. There is no animation, only verbal and written instructions and prompts that occasionally appear. It wasn't always clear if you were supposed to do something or just click next.

Instead, I recommend that you subscribe to Lynda dot com. For you have access to all their video training for one month (might be able to get the first month free). You don't have to download anything to your computer, the training is broken down into small segments so you can target exactly what you need, the training is as fast clipped as you want it to be and you can see exactly what you need to do.

I do IT training and I can't recommend this software.

Info, once you can get to it, is decent, but it is really clunky to use - sanoe.net -
There's nothing fancy about Professor Teaches Office 2010 and Windows 7. It is a book on a DVD. The information is there and you can run through it. It has all the programs for Office 2010 including Publisher. Windows 7 includes Internet Explorer 8. There is a basic and an advanced.

So there is a lot of information on the DVD disk.

That said, I found the installation clunky. Everything is broken up so you have to install each application as an individual install. Maybe in testing, the feedback given was that it would work better that way. I didn't like it myself. If it had to be 'a la carte' installation, I wish they would have given an option to "install all" as well.

When I finally did get the application installed, I found that the floating windows would go off screen so I kept having to drag it up or down to see the entire prompt. I had to adjust my resolution on my screen in order to get it to stay within my screen. Even then, it did weird things. I also couldn't 'cancel' out of a chapter because there was no easily identifiable 'exit' button. To exit the program, I had to go to the Task Manager.

Overall, the info, if you can get to it, is decent, but the experience of getting to that information is a clumsy, clunky endeavor.

I'd rather just buy a book instead.

I love it - Mind over Matter - In the Mind
I am very kinesthetic learner and love interactive programs like this. As another reviewer noted, it can take about 5 minutes to download each program, but if you do it w/o the audio, it's 1/4 what it would be with it. I installed one with the audio and it took about 4 minutes. I installed the rest w/o the audio--less than a minute each. It's very simple and user friendly.

Glad I got this
