Professor Teaches Office 2010 and Win 7 Review
In general this is a very effective method of learning Windows 7 and Office 2010 there are some things that could improve the usability though.
Pros:
A great price and I feel a good value
Assumes no knowledge and allows skipping so all the beginning stuff is covered well.
If you go through the tutorials you will learn things you never knew even if you have been using the programs for a while but you have to have a fairly good attention span. It is well worth your time.
Cons:
Each of the 17 sections will install on your hard drive and it took over 5 minutes and required sending personal information through their registration process. I have a very over powered machine with loads of memory so I'm not used to such extensive install times. I would prefer running directly from the DVD and just storing a small file that tracked what I've completed.
Even though this is a new product it needed file updates.
The installer got stuck on every section and I had to force a close through task manager

There is no full screen mode or it is not easy to find
You just can't listen you have to click next over and over just to continue the lessons shortly after starting I wished for an auto play mode with a pause. Some of it is interactive and I appreciate this but having to press next just to continue the audio was very annoying; sometimes it is for every sentence.
If you click on the wrong place you get a dialog which you have to manually close to move on. It should just close when you click on the correct item.
Product is a bit buggy got several pop up dialog boxes for example titled Train Engine with the following Text Problem: WaitFor gave Incorrect label-6rot On page 75Lesson1A Ignoring them and closing the dialog boxes the lesson continues.

i love the professor teaches series. it is so user friendly. i was excited to see the professor teaches offie 2010 & windows 7 being offered on amazon vine.
i am using it almost every day. i highly recommend this program to anyone who wants to learn these 2 programs. it is an easy way to become more comfortable using office 2010 and windows 7.
Slow, Awkward, Old Fashioned - Conspicuous Consumer -
Twenty years ago I would have considered this a decent learning tool. But users have many far better options for learning Office 2010 than this product.
Office 2010 does require training. I used it for a month before I figured out where they moved some of the Excel print functions. I went through 8 hours of online training with Word before I switched to it and I have taught Office at a graduate level.
This software had problems from the start. Autostart failed, so I opened it manually. You have to install any application you want to your hard drive so I installed Word (333 MB after update). I skipped registration.
When I tried to run it (no desktop shortcut), the install disk ran furiously in player but the application failed to open. Rebooted, tried again, and was prompted to update.
I found the training to be slow, clunky, and not very useful. There is no animation, only verbal and written instructions and prompts that occasionally appear. It wasn't always clear if you were supposed to do something or just click next.
Instead, I recommend that you subscribe to Lynda dot com. For you have access to all their video training for one month (might be able to get the first month free). You don't have to download anything to your computer, the training is broken down into small segments so you can target exactly what you need, the training is as fast clipped as you want it to be and you can see exactly what you need to do.
I do IT training and I can't recommend this software.

There's nothing fancy about Professor Teaches Office 2010 and Windows 7. It is a book on a DVD. The information is there and you can run through it. It has all the programs for Office 2010 including Publisher. Windows 7 includes Internet Explorer 8. There is a basic and an advanced.
So there is a lot of information on the DVD disk.
That said, I found the installation clunky. Everything is broken up so you have to install each application as an individual install. Maybe in testing, the feedback given was that it would work better that way. I didn't like it myself. If it had to be 'a la carte' installation, I wish they would have given an option to "install all" as well.
When I finally did get the application installed, I found that the floating windows would go off screen so I kept having to drag it up or down to see the entire prompt. I had to adjust my resolution on my screen in order to get it to stay within my screen. Even then, it did weird things. I also couldn't 'cancel' out of a chapter because there was no easily identifiable 'exit' button. To exit the program, I had to go to the Task Manager.
Overall, the info, if you can get to it, is decent, but the experience of getting to that information is a clumsy, clunky endeavor.
I'd rather just buy a book instead.
I love it - Mind over Matter - In the Mind
I am very kinesthetic learner and love interactive programs like this. As another reviewer noted, it can take about 5 minutes to download each program, but if you do it w/o the audio, it's 1/4 what it would be with it. I installed one with the audio and it took about 4 minutes. I installed the rest w/o the audio--less than a minute each. It's very simple and user friendly.
