Women's Fashion Trends - 7 Spring Trends for Office and Evening Wear

From artsy to craftsy, spring of 2008 has many fashion trends to mix and match. Here are 7 delightful spring looks to freshen your wardrobe for work or after hours.

1. Blooming: From huge pansies and overblown peonies, to tiny scattered flowers, florals are busting forth this spring. These are not your grandmother's bouquets. Designers are showing these blossoms on everything from shorts to loose pants, skirts and dresses. To wear these fashions in the real world, keep it modern by pairing an overblown floral print with solids. Head-to-toe blossoms are only for the runway.

2. Flowing fabrics: Voluminous frocks are flowing down the runway, in primary colors, and yes - in florals! They may be great for the poolside or very casual evenings, but they are too casual for the workplace. What's more, they overwhelm small frames. If you are petite, look for this trend in items that have less volume, so you won't disappear into the fabric.

3. Artsy: Art has always inspired designers, and this year brush-stroke patterns are in. In particular, you'll see beautiful fabrics inspired by watercolors. Delicious to wear!

4. Craftsy: Designers are combing the globe, offering us chunky chokers, beaded bracelets, and patterns and fringes inspired by everything from American Indian art to African art. You may already have some chunky silver or turquoise. Pull out your bracelets and chokers, and pile them on. But be moderate for the office.

5. Snazzy shoes: Shoes are extreme this season, from flat gladiators to teetering high heels and wedges. There's nothing basic about these hot colors, patchwork patterns, and sculpted heels. Just walk carefully.

6. Bags are big, and patterned too. Or tiny. And colorful, chunky, and bold. Name your style. Add some embellishments, such as jewelry for a unique piece.

7. A touch of men's wear: Tuxes and blazers are still with us. These looks are easier to translate into office wear. Ahh, something to wear to work, at last.

2010 Designer Handbag Trends - Structured Chaos

2010 is the start of a brand new decade and thus represents a reawakening of sorts. With the economy not exactly where everyone wants it to be, practicality is going to be just as important as distinctiveness. This means that fewer people will be splurging on $10,000 couture handbags that can only be worn once, and instead will invest in bags that are more versatile.

Controlled Chaos

One way in which structured chaos will manifest itself will be with the fusion of two trends into one. For example, the combination of tweed (masculinity) and silk (femininity) into a single handbag. An excellent example of this concept is seen in the winter collections of Burberry and Gucci. Both of these houses use their signature monograms as a backdrop, and then embellish with floral overlays or silk bows. This fusion allows a handbag to make a fashion statement, yet still be worn with multiple looks.

Controlled chaos will also be seen in collaborations of classic styles and textures with their futuristic counterparts. Although the concept of mixing the old with the new is not novel, the manner of doing so has transformed. Instead of wearing vintage shoes with a brand new handbag, we will now see handbags that cleverly combine these two movements into a solitary unit.

For example, the Chanel Coco Country handbag has a vintage structure and fabric with braided handles, but it has the famous Chanel logo pinned to the corner in an art deco manner. The Christian Dior Tabou Bucket Bag has a traditional drawstring handbag shape, but it is made with a python fabric which has a futuristic vibe about it.

Trends For Designer Sunglasses For Summer 2010

It is spring already and summer is just around the corner. For those either fashion-conscious or practical, it is the time of year to purchase a pair of sunglasses. A pair - either generic or designer sunglasses - is designed to not only be in style but to also block out UV rays and, in some cases, reduce glare seen when the sun hits certain objects. While the practical side of purchasing sunglasses involves finding a pair of polarized lenses that blocks against UV rays, the fashionable side means keeping up with the latest trends. And, trends for designer sunglasses in 2010 are full of contradictions.

On one hand, the overall trend for men and women is color - the more, the better. This may be brightly colored frames, as seen on many wayfarer styles, or tinted lenses - a popular option for oversized and butterfly styles. But, beyond which colors are used, the two contrasting trends for the summer are basic and unconventional designs. Combine them in the same pair - and you've got a set of sunglasses that meets all trends for the year. Nevertheless, this basic but unconventional look combines both retro styles - basics, like aviator and wayfarer designs - with a futuristic look, such as bold colors and embellishments seldom seen on vintage shades.

Embellishments are another popular trend for this coming summer. Called the "diva look," designer sunglasses with various embellishments give your look some character. This may be through rhinestones added to the lenses or cut out designs along the frame for a pair of oversized or angular shades.

As a contrast to this look, however, earth tones are in for men and women. Almost like departure or a refute to the brightly-colored, embellished shades with a futuristic look, these back-to-basics styles often rely on a brown, beige, and green color scheme for the lenses and frames. This may be as classic as a mock tortoise frame or as subtle as clear plastic tinted beige.
